Marisan completes the circle with a circular economy

Marisan exhibitor at Buyer meets Supplier event

Event: Buyer meets Supplier

On November 21, 2019, Marisan will be the only packaging specialist to participate in Buyer meets Supplier, the closing event of Green Deal on Circular Purchasing. Purchasers from industry, retail and government can get to know various suppliers of circular products during this event. We are happy to show you our reusable & recyclable packaging and the bisphenol-free thermal labels. You will find us at our stand in Heysel Palace 10.

Marisan circular

We strive to integrate the circular economy in all product lines and have various certificates for compostable and biodegradable products. We closely monitor that our manufacturers want to participate in the circular story. At Marisan you will find both sustainable products with a long service life and products made from recycled materials. One package can also have both characteristics. For example, we offer high-quality carrier bags made from recycled or compostable materials and woven bags made from recycled threads.

Our suppliers do a lot of research for labels and attachments to see how they can work circularly. A pilot project is currently underway in which waste and the backing of labels are collected to be reworked into new rolls of basic material. For attachments, our manufacturer Toska is investigating the possibilities of compostable alternatives to the classic plastic pins.

The future of the circular economy

Today, circular packaging already offers many finishing options such as personalization and printing. A recognizable example is the typical shipping bags of large retailers. The options for circular packaging will become even wider in the future. Just think of 100% transparent carrier bags or bags made from ultra-fine recycled plastic. However, this still requires a great deal of R&D. That is why it is so important that governments, producers and consumers continue to stimulate the circular economy.

Fortunately, everyone is increasingly aware of the environment and consumers are also actively looking for sustainable solutions. There are many organic and retail outlets that also want to send their green products in green packaging. The circle is almost complete!

Circular economy packaged sustainably

The circular economy is on the rise. That is good news, because in this way discarded products are recycled into something new. Marisan is also fully committed to the circular economy. Discover how!

Sustainable and environmentally friendly, these are two terms that have become indispensable in current events in recent years. This attention is absolutely necessary, because disposable products are too often developed in our consumer society. A concept such as a circular economy proves that things can be done differently.

What is circular economy?

In a circular economy, used materials are recycled into basic materials for new products. At present, circular thinking is still in a starting phase. It is primarily the task of the government and major distributors to make the circular economy the new standard.

This concept is a positive evolution in function of environmental conservation. In the long term it offers a lot of possibilities to reuse just about everything. This is not so much about the type of materials, but about how they are processed. Many products, such as plastic and cardboard, can be recycled at the end of their life. Circular thinking also opens up new perspectives in the packaging world.

Sustainable packaging

The most important advantage of circular packaging is that much less new raw materials are needed. Packaging that used to be simply destroyed after use can be reused. That way the pressure on the environment is a lot less!

Yet it is not always obvious to make the switch to the circular economy. After all, a lot of research and development is needed to arrive at high-quality packaging. Some recycling processes are still in full test phase, others are already well established. By continuing to focus on recovery, the processing techniques can be refined time and again. Within a few years, the quality of a circular packaging will almost no longer differ from that of a packaging made from 100% new raw materials.
